"I chose to include Vichy in TheSkinBay because it is the ultimate 'skin health' brand. In my clinic, I often see skin that has been stripped or weakened by external stressors like pollution and stress. Vichy’s focus on the 'Exposome', how our lifestyle affects our skin, is so relevant to the modern woman. Their Mineral 89 serum is a personal favorite of mine; it’s a simple yet incredibly powerful way to drench the skin in minerals and strengthen that all-important barrier. For me, Vichy represents the perfect balance of French heritage and serious medical research."
, Emmalee, Founder of The Skin Bay
The brand was founded in 1931 by Dr. Prosper Haller, a medical director at the Vichy Thermal Establishment, and Georges Guérin, the director of Grenoville Perfumes. Dr. Haller was the first to discover the therapeutic, skin-healing properties of the Lucas Spring volcanic water and had the revolutionary idea to incorporate these minerals into a skincare line called Les Secrets de Vichy. This partnership marked the birth of modern dermo-cosmetics, merging medical efficacy with cosmetic pleasure. While the springs were declared of "public interest" by Napoleon III as far back as 1861, it was Haller’s scientific vision that transformed Vichy from a famous spa town into a global laboratory for skin health.
